Riot are currently taking on new projects for early 2012 TBC
Hide

Riot is a small design & development team working in Bath, UK.

Known worldwide both for our own apps and our successful client projects, we sure as hell know how to ship everything we touch (ask anyone).

Serious design. Serious code. We even drink seriously. Really. We have a bar.

Let's start something

We're a small team that focus on creating beautiful user experiences across the web and mobile devices, handling everything from the initial planning stages all the way through to final execution and launch.

Work Showcase

Client projects, web applications and self-published apps.

The Riot team have been working with the web for many years - from branding, interface design and redesigns to building web services, e-commerce platforms and developing mobile apps.

We can't talk about every project we've been involved with (we're good at signing NDAs), but below are a few of our recent favourites that we've designed, developed and shipped.

Start your own project

Showreel for iPad The latest & greatest movie trailers Visit

getshowreel.com • Showreel for iPad

Browse through & stream the latest movie trailers right on your iPad.
Sit back, watch & enjoy in outstanding high definition.

We created Showreel because we're big movie fans and we love our blockbuster trailers. iPad is the perfect viewing experience to play them back and do it in style, so we wrapped high definition trailers with beautiful artwork and presentation to create a unique movie trailer experience for the small screen.

Converse for iPad Talk across languages Visit

getconverse.com • Converse for iPad

Converse is a language translator for conversations. Use the unique dual-keyboard layout to break down the language barrier and have a real conversation.

Our friend Louis Anslow had a great idea for a unique take on language translation and came to us to execute his concept. From design to build, we created a truly individual user experience (the first of its kind for iOS) and it was even featured in the 'Best Utility' category in Apple's own App Store Rewind 2011.

Shaken for iPhone Shake up your next drink Visit

shakenapp.com • Shaken for iPhone

Shake to make your new favourite drinks and come up with new and inventive concoctions. Some good, some bad, some just plain ugly.

Shaken is our favourite novelty app. Originally conceived at a Riot Hack Night, and with our good bartender friends at Door 34, Shaken features a fun premise combined with bold execution. The result is an app that turns out to be a lot of fun, and exotic drink names and recipes that can be even more so.

Insta-great! The experience Instagram's missing Visit

instagre.at • Insta-great!

A super-slick web front-end for the world's most popular iOS photo-sharing service.

Instagreat started life as a fun hack for viewing Instagram photos on the web. Recognised by many as the best photo-viewing experience on the web, it's a unique experience that we're particularly proud of. The Instagram guys loved it so much, they didn't even mind us hacking up their API. Nobody else does interfaces like this.

ngmoco:) Go be a mofo at ngmoco! Visit

careers.ngmoco.com • Come be a mofo!

A long-standing Riot client, ngmoco:) needed new talent in their team.

When they found out they couldn't just buy us, they asked us to build them a careers site instead. The result shows all the fun the 'mofos' have in their fancy San Francisco offices and all the job details and information any new mofo would need.

"I've worked with Riot for 2+ years. Superb design. Swift development. Hats. What else could you want?"

Rob Libbey, ngmoco:)

Elliott Kember Developer (Rails)

Among Elliott's considerable talents, developing for Rails, hacking in JavaScript & building out apps in HTML/CSS are just a few.

He can tear down a stack and rebuild it single-handedly in under an hour. He also wrestles helicopters and flies crocodiles.

Red Davis Developer (iOS)

Transitioning from Rails to iOS, Red has a solid background in web apps but likes compiling things for his iPhone(s) & iPad(s) even more.

Some say he eats keyboards. Others say he's obsessed with Taylor Swift. All we know is, that last bit’s an understatement.

Hector Simpson Designer

Hector has been designing all kinds of things for years, with a specialty for designing apps and experiences for the web & those  devices.

He cries when Photoshop crashes and Bath Rugby lose games, and seeks comfort in Bath Ales' Gem & Barnsey.

An introduction to Riot

How we got together and started a Riot

These three likely young lads found each other in the deep darkness of the South-West.

Banding together to conserve energy and beat the odds of survival, they found in each other a kindred spirit - the desire to build cool stuff.

The trio became inseparable, standing together against the forces of darkness and shitty code.
